Gailes is a Alamance County native, born and raised in Burlington NC. Gailes attended Elon College (now University)  before getting into the radio business.

Gailes' love of Rock-N-Roll oldies and Beach music has earned him induction into the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame in 2014,

Gailes can be heard Monday - Thursday playing those songs of summertime from 12:30 - 3:00 pm. Gailes can also be heard voicing many of commercials throughout the day.

Gailes is married to the love of his life Carole which they have a son Van whom has played in high profiled beach bands, a daughter Lisa who is a Teacher and six grandchildren.
